About me
Yaocen Ye

Hi!
I’m a music and dance educator, performer, and lion dancer based in Chappaqua, NY. I grew up in Guangdong, China, where I developed a deep passion for music and traditional Chinese performing arts. I graduated from Xinghai Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Education, specializing in piano, vocal training, and various musical instruments.
With a strong foundation in both early childhood music education and Chinese classical and folk dance, I bring a unique cross-disciplinary approach to teaching. I currently teach music and movement at Montessori Children’s Room and also provide private lessons and project-based workshops that integrate dance, music, and acting.
I believe that every child has their own way of expressing themselves through music and movement. My goal is to create a joyful and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity, confidence, and cultural pride. I especially enjoy integrating festivals, rhythm, and imaginative play into my classes to help students connect more deeply with both music and culture.
In addition to teaching, I am deeply committed to promoting traditional Chinese lion dance. Since 2021, I have directed and performed Chinese lion dance and cultural showcases across New York and Connecticut, including in city halls, schools, libraries, and festivals. Through these performances and community outreach, I hope to share the energy, meaning, and beauty of this art form—and keep the tradition alive for future generations.
Whether through music, dance, or cultural events, I love sharing my heritage, inspiring young learners, and building meaningful connections through the arts.
